Live Green! Hydro electic turbines & watermills - clean & green energy
Green Building Products
Hydro power, short for hydraulic power, is the use of moving water to convert kinetic energy into mechanical energy, similar to using wind used to turn wind turbines. Hydro mechanical power applications go as far back as Imperial Rome, where it was used for irrigation and the operation of a variety of machines, such as watermills, textile machines, aqueducts, and sawmills.
Modernized hydraulic power employs the use of giant hydro eclectic turbines to produce electricity that is “green“. Water is channeled through a large pipe and forced into an impeller chamber that is connected to a generator that in turn produces electricity.
Hoover Damn is an excellent example of hydraulic power generation. This facility houses 17 giant hydro electric turbines that produce 2,074 megawatts of 100% clean electrical energy. The highly efficient use of the Colorado River enables this power plant to deliver power to nearly 25% of Nevada Power, 20% of Arizona’s Power, and many parts of Southern California.
